Carols by Candlelight
What would the season be without a beautiful rendition of Silent Night and Joy to the World? The annual over 20-year-old Christmas event hosted by The Rotary Club of Kirstenboschand held at Kirstenbosch Gardens will be taking place this year over the course of three nights: Thursday 13, Friday 14, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 December 2018. Led by the Cape Town Concert Brass and Male Voice Choir performing those beloved traditional Christmas carols from 7:45pm until 9:30pm. Bring your own picnic baskets to enjoy the family or pre-order a Pick ‘n Pay basket Pick n Pay for R195pp including a baguette, cheeses, pates, brownies plus more. New Years Eve
A new addition to the NYE festivities on offer is Alcazar NYE, the brainchild of Wolfkop Weekender and Bazique Festival. With a wacky Eastern theme, this Inner City Outdoor Party promises to be one to remember. Boasting 2 stages of live acts – a 3D printed and video-mapped building facia of an Arabian fortress (stage 1) and a ballroom stage in a heritage building (stage 2) – these two fantastical stages present favourite local DJ’s amidst a backdrop of out-of-this world décor and performance art. Guests are encouraged to come dressed in their best Eastern-inspired outfits, to leave their inhibitions behind and be ready to party.
Secret Sunrise
While some prefer to usher in the New Year with booze, beats and buddies there are some who relish in the quiet contemplative moments. Take the opportunity to reflect on the year that has been and focus your mind on the year to come with an energising Secret SunriseYoga Session. Don your headphones, block out all distractions and just breathe and relax. Happening on 11 and 22 December 2018 you can find the date and location that best suits to get your silent yoga mojo on.
Galilleo Open Air Cinema
There’s nothing quite like watching an epic movie under the canopy of a starlit sky alongside your favourite people. Now with several locations throughout the Western Cape including the V&A Waterfront, Kirstenbosch Gardens, Cape Winelands and several rotating venues, there’s no excuse not to enjoy this outdoor viewing experience that is the Galileo Open Air Cinema.

Kirstenbosch Summer Concerts
A definite favourite for both Capetonians and visitors are our esteemed Summer Concerts in the ever-so-beautiful Kirstenbosch National Botanical Gardens.
Happening every Sunday from now until March 2019, gates open at 4pm with the concert start times varying between 5pm and 5:30pm and ending at 7pm. Featuring up and coming local artists such as Jeremy Loops and GoodLuck as well as nostalgic acts such as Boney M and Mango Groove, expect an evening of great music in beautiful surrounds set against the stunning backdrop of Table Mountain’s eastern slopes. Pack a picnic basket (or pre-order one from the Mojo Restaurant Kirstenbosch or the Kirstenbosch Tea Room), bring your friends and family and enjoy!
